OpenTexts.world

OpenTexts.world was an experimental service that helped users discover free digitised texts in library collections around the world.

The service included data about and access to digitised collections from the national libraries of Scotland, Wales and New Zealand, the universities of Cambridge, Oxford, Cardiff, Leiden and Queens University Belfast, the HathiTrust, Internet Archive, Wellcome Collection and Open Book publishers. In 2020, the service was developed during the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project was initiated by the National Library of Scotland with support from the Scottish Tech Army and contributing libraries.

The service was closed in June 2023, however the project repository remains available at https://github.com/opentexts/opentexts.
